Diamond carat weight measures how much a diamond weighs. A metric ‘carat’ is defined as 200
milligrams. Each carat is subdivided into 100 ‘points’. This allows very precise measurements to the
hundredth decimal place. The greater the carat weight, the rarer a diamond usually is.
Describes the presence of inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external) in a diamond. These
characteristics are typically growth marks, breaks, or other minerals trapped within or on the surface of a diamond. The GIA clarity scale ranges from Flawless (no internal or external characteristics) to Included (obvious characteristics that affect beauty and durability).
Refers to the absence of colour in colourless diamonds. The colour scale runs from D to Z. As the letters progress toward Z, the colour grade goes from colourless to near-colourless to faint yellow, then very light yellow and finally light yellow. The closer the diamond is to D (colourless), the rarer it will be – and more expensive, if all other factors are equal.
Describes how the proportions of the diamond’s facets influence its face-up appearance, and how
successfully a diamond interacts with light to create desirable visual effects such as brightness, fire
and sparkle. The cut of a diamond includes not only the proportions, but also how well the stone has been polished and how symmetrical it is.

The ring needs to be tight enough not to fall off, but it also has to be loose enough to slide over your knuckle. The time of the day and also the weather affect the measurement. Because in the early morning or cold weather, fingers are smaller and when the weather is too hot, the fingers are bigger. The evening is the best time to measure your finger size while they are warm.
If you hesitate between two sizes, always go with the larger one. If your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger, measure both your knuckle and the base of your finger and select a size in between the two.
It is always good to measure your finger a couple of times during the day. If the ring is going to be a surprise, you can ask her / his friend or family members or you can secretly borrow her/his ring and go down to a jeweller to learn the size. Please also remember that right hand and left hand are different so the finger sizes are different too.
